Former midfielder Kevin Kilbane said that Sadio Mane intentionally scolded to bring back a penalty to help Liverpool win Leicester 2-1 yesterday 5/10.
“I don’t think it’s a penalty, although Albrighton has an impact on Mane,” Kevin Kilbane said on the BBC Final Score show. “Mane fell down. The referee will not change the decision, because it’s a collision situation. But it’s not an obvious mistake. I think Mane took the initiative to fall down to get a penalty.”
Kilbane was a Republican of Ireland and had 17 years of playing in English competitions. In the period of 2003-2006, he wore the Everton shirt – the same city rival as Liverpool.
In the third injury-time of the Liverpool-Leicester match yesterday, Marc Albrighton returned to defense but did not understand what Kasper Schmeichel meant when the Leicester keeper came out to catch the ball. As a result, the 11th midfielder stepped on Mane’s foot and made the visitors penalized. James Milner fooled Schmeichel from the spot 11 meters, bringing the 2-1 victory for Liverpool. Earlier, Mane opened the scoring in the 40th minute and James Maddison equalized in the 80th minute.
Liverpool, thanks to Mane’s fall and Milner’s penalty kick, maintained the top of the table with eight wins. On the Leicester side, coach Brendan Rodgers did not hide his disappointment on his return to Anfield – where he had been with for three years.
“As for the penalty, I think it was an unclear penalty,” Mr. Rodgers added. “But when the referee decided to blow the penalty, it was hard for VAR to deny it. Anyway, I am still proud of the players’ performance. Playing fair with Liverpool shows that we are still on the right track at Tournaments”.
Next week, the English Premier League will take a break to make room for the national team playing field. In the next round, two weeks later, Liverpool came to Old Trafford and Leicester welcomed Burnley.
The defending champions continue a series of bad matches, losing 0-2 to Granada in Round 5 of La Liga.
Goals: Azeez 2 ‘, Vadillo 66’ penalty.
After returning to play in the Borussia Dortmund draw in the Champions League on midweek, as most of the betting sites predicted, Lionel Messi once again started on the bench. Because his physical strength has not fully recovered, he has not been able to play at his peak. However, the absence caused more damage to Jordi Alba, the left-back stopped playing due to an injury.
When he first started playing Alba, rookie Junior Firpo had a disastrous debut with two mistakes in the first 63 seconds. After passing Firpo, Antonio Puertas freely penetrated the penalty area to make a sinking. After the ball hit Gerard Pique’s foot and changed direction past goalkeeper Ter Stegen, Ramon Azeez appeared to head on an open goal to open the scoring for Granada.
As stunned after the first goal, Barca were powerless in giving an “answer”. The attack, including Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann and Carles Perez, did not perform as expected by the fans. They controlled the ball and pressed the field, but failed to make a single goal goal in the first half. The only situation that caught Barca’s attention was Suarez’s free-kick that hit the fence.
Granada crafts are also part of the reason that Barca plays down. By defending based on mass, discipline and effective space control, the home team succeeded in neutralizing the opponent’s tactics.
Aware of the difficulties, coach Ernesto Valverde threw Messi and prodigy Ansu Fati into the field from the beginning of the second half. However, the boost did not help Barca. Having retired from the beginning of July, Messi lost the image of the player who scored more than 50 goals last season. He could do nothing but force goalkeeper Rui Silva to make the first save.
Fati also did not contribute much, besides the stirring phase on the left wing. If more experience, the 16-year-old striker may have created more danger from the effort to cross the penalty area.
Barca’s early discouragement was also caused by the fact that Granada had a goal to set the victory from 66 minutes. Having the opportunity on the 11m mark, Alvaro Vadillo tricked goalkeeper Ter Stegen to double the gap.
Italy beat hosts Finland 2-1 on 8/9, thereby winning all six matches played in Group J.
After this victory, Italy reached 18 points over six matches, nine points ahead of Armenia’s third team. The rules for Euro 2020 qualifies that the top two teams in each group in the qualifying round will win tickets to the final round. Roberto Mancini’s teachers, therefore, only need to win four points in the remaining four matches to win tickets to Euro 2020. Despite losing to Italy, Finland is having the opportunity to attend a major tournament for the first time when finishing second with three More points than Armenia.
Better control of the ball, Italy created the opportunity to eat in the first half. The most obvious is the volley near the edge of the penalty area of Stefano Sensi, forcing goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky to fly all the way to prevent. Sensi then has a long shot off the column.
Finland had difficulty putting the ball up due to Italy’s high pressing style. They use a lot of high kicks in the hope the strikers will take advantage of the height to cause mutations. However, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma had to deal with such a fair play.
Early in the second half, Finland created an opportunity soon with a deflected shot of the high-striker Teemu Pukki. But when the team could not find the net, they had conceded goals. A cross from Federico Chiesa touched the head of a Finnish player and found the location of Ciro Immobile. The Italian striker headed the ball and smacked the ball into the crossbar into the net.
Finland 1-2 Italy
This opener ended the 10-match streak in Immobile’s Italy squad. The last time he scored was a 1-0 win over Israel in September 2017. The striker is playing for Lazio so the emotion is happy. However, the joy of Italy lasted more than 10 minutes.
During a cross from the right wing into the penalty area, Pukki was fouled. On the penalty spot, the striker of the Norwich club staff fooled Donnarumma to make up for Finland. But seven minutes later, the referee blew a second penalty, this time for Italy, after a touch of the ball in the penalty area of Sauli Vaeisaenen. On the 11m mark, Jorginho missed a shot, making goalkeeper Hradecky unable to touch the ball in the right direction.
The 2004 champion was defeated by Russian club Krasnodar by the away goal rule in the third qualifying round.
Porto won 1-0 away from home in the first leg. However, dramatic happenings took place in the second leg when coach Sergio Conceicao’s side were soon conceded by Dutch midfielder Tonny Vilhena. Shapi Suleymanov then scored two consecutive goals to help Krasnodar lead 3-0 after the first half.
Ze Luis and Luis Diaz’s second goal in the second half only helped Porto equalize after 3-3 matches, but the Portuguese team was still eliminated by the away goal rule.
Winning a surprise victory, Krasnodar will meet the Greek club Olympiacos in the play-off round to win tickets to the Champions League group stage. Olympiacos overcame Basaksehir Turkey 3-0 to continue. This is Porto’s second absence in the Champions League. When Jose Mourinho led the club to the championship in 2004, Krasnodar didn’t even exist. The third club in the Russian championship last season was established in 2008.
In the semi-finals of the Champions League last season, Ajax experienced a heartbreaking match against Greek champion PAOK Salonika. After two 2-2 draws in the first leg, PAOK took the lead in the Netherlands thanks to a strike from Diego Biseswar – an adult player from Ajax training.
Dusan Tadic missed a penalty but then equalized for Ajax on the spot 11m at the end of the first half. Nicolas Tagliafico scored the second half with 10 minutes remaining to help Ajax lead 4-3 after two matches. Tadic once again scored a successful penalty to determine the ticket for the Dutch team, although Biseswar had another goal in injury time.

Argentina captain Lionel Messi also expressed dissatisfaction with the referee team led by Rody Zambrano – Ecuadorian.
Messi thinks there are too many fouls but VAR has never been used at all throughout the match despite being applied in all previous Copa America matches. Argentine Labor President Claudio Tapia sent a letter to comfort and support Messi’s opinion in the post-match interview. Mr. Tapia also expressed clearly in the complaint letter to CONMBEBOL that:
“It is unreasonable to not use VAR in two situations and it has affected the game.”
He also expressed “doubts about morality, honesty and transparency” during the last defeat of Argentina.
Brazil is also accused by the Argentina FA of Brazil taking advantage of the Copa America to benefit its political image. Specifically, Mr. Jair Bolsonaro – Brazil’s new national president had a welcome screen for fans in the middle of the time even though FIFA had stipulated political factors are not allowed to interfere in football matches.
More seriously, there was the allegation from GloboEsporte that the security of the new Brazilian president caused confusion in radio communications between the referee and the VAR in the last semi-final.
