Roberto Carlos tells of the time ruined his career at Inter

Five months playing for Inter Milan was not a sweet time for Roberto Carlos. He admits his career was almost ruined here.
“I was let to play in the midfield. Because of this, I did not have the opportunity to play for the Brazilian national team and participated in the Copa America in 1997,” recalls Carlos. with Inter, and work under coach Hodgson.

On 10/4, Carlos celebrated his 47th birthday. During the competition, he was considered a legend of Real Madrid. No foreign player has more “Los Blancos” caps than the former Brazilian player. Madrid loves Carlos. They see him as a symbol, a big brand with sorrowful free kicks.

However, before going to a new height with Real, Carlos seemed to be buried in his career at Inter Milan, where he had to kick off his forte, and was not trusted by the coach.

In 1995, Massimo Moratti took over the Meazza team as chairman. He quickly strengthened the club by recruiting Paul Ince, Javier Zanetti and a young Brazilian winger from Palmeiras. It was Roberto Carlos.

In the first match played for the representative of Milan, Carlos soon showed the quality of a dangerous goalscorer. He scored against Vicenza after a free kick from a distance of 27 m. Strong, technical and improvised, those qualities are concentrated in Carlos.

However, playing time for Inter is not sweet with the boy of samba. He was misplaced by coach Hodgson. The British military wanted him to learn games like a winger, and sometimes be raised to kick like a striker. According to Carlos, Mr. Hodgson ruined his career like that.

“Coach Hodgson does not seem to understand much about football,” Carlos said, and blamed the British leader who deserved the most criticism when Inter Milan lost to Schalke 04 in 1996/97 UEFA Cup final.

“The fault simply belongs to Hodgson,” Carlos said. At that time, Inter squad appeared many stars such as Gianluca Pagliuca, Javier Zanetti, Ivan Zamorano, Maurizio Ganz. On the other side of the snow battle, the representative of Germany only Marc Wilmots was the star to watch. But after two turns, Inter drew Schalke 1-1, losing 1-4 in a penalty shootout to 81,675 spectators at Meazza.
Carlos did not have a common voice with coach Hodgson. The English teacher also lacked faith in the student. Coach Hodgson simply cannot see the potential value and where is the suitable position of Carlos. The tactician also described the Brazilian contract too undisciplined, often leaving the position.

Since November 1996, Coach Hodgson has not considered Carlos part of the plan. At that time, the leader persuaded President Moratti to recruit Alessandro Pistone, and Carlos was immediately pushed to the bench. Dissatisfied with Coach Hodgson, Carlos went to President Moratti to find a solution.
